Water-Saving Toilet

The City of Savannah’s toilet voucher program was first established in 1998 to help water customers replace older fixtures that used 3 to 5 gallons per flush! Today’s toilets are designed to get the job done using only 1.28 gallons per flush, resulting in lower utility bills and water conservation. The voucher can be used for one EPA WaterSense comfort height toilet. City of Savannah water customers are eligible for two toilets. Customers can use the value of the voucher toward other higher-end EPA WaterSense models.

The City of Savannah Water Resources Department is proud to provide this program to our customers to ensure our precious water stays affordable and plentiful.

Indoor Water Conservation Kit

The City of Savannah offers tools to our water customers to help conserve water and keep utility bills from increasing. For example, the flappers inside a toilet tank will wear and start to leak before the toilet is ready for replacement. A running toilet is the number one cause of high utility bills in the winter or non-growing seasons. These flappers and more can be found in our water conservation kits. The Indoor Water Conservation Kit includes a high-efficiency showerhead, a toilet tank flapper, leak detection tablets, a kitchen faucet swivel spray aerator, and two sink bubble spray aerators.

Rain Barrel

Rain Barrel

Instead of sending rain to the drain, capture it with a rain barrel. Rain barrels connecting to home gutters or roof driplines provide a good source of free water for gardens and landscapes. Not only does it save precious drinking water, it can reduce problematic flooding when implemented throughout a neighborhood. And a big bonus is the improvement to water quality in adjacent creeks and rivers.

To learn more, watch this video about rain barrel benefits and installation tips.

There are two ways that you can receive a FREE rain barrel. Either complete the Rain Barrel Voucher Application and submit it via email, or complete the Lead Pipe Survey and email us after it is submitted.

Outdoor Water Conservation Kit

The City of Savannah offers tools to our water customers to help conserve water and keep utility bills from increasing. For example, when using outdoor water a hose nozzle is useful to stop water waste when you are watering your garden or cleaning. These nozzles and more can be found in our water conservation kits. The Outdoor Water Conservation Kit includes a soil moisture meter, a water efficient garden hose nozzle, a garden hose repair kit, and a rain gauge.
